Danielle

Danielle was one of the first consultations I had at the beginning of the year and it was exciting to have her wedding finally get here. She was so darling and full of energy. I loved getting to know her. She also wanted a grooms cake for her future hubby that represented all the things he liked to do. I had so much fun working on her two cakes. She sent me the sweetest email about how much she loved her cake. That is always such a fun treat when you get to hear how much the bride and groom appreciated their cake. As a cake designer, those are the greatest compliments when people take the time to let you know how happy they were with their cake. It makes my job the best job in the world.

Danielle's Grooms Cake

As I said earlier, Danielle wanted her grooms cake to reflect all the things her hubby to be enjoyed doing. He is a EMT and is also training to be a fire fighter. He LOVES the show Ace of Cakes (as do I) so this cake had to be "Duff worthy" (for those of you who don't know... Duff.... you gotta watch Ace of Cakes on the Food Network). Even though this ambulance didnt have the real lights and smoke coming out of it as Duff would do... I think it turned out pretty fun. We had the bride looking beautiful in her gown and the groom (goatee and all) with his fireman hat, his EMT bag and his ambulance in the back.
I was thrilled to hear that he LOVED his cake and was so excited when Danielle brought it out to him as his own special gift at the reception.
Thank you both for letting me be apart of your special day. I was so happy to be able to make a couple cakes for you that fit your personalities. Enjoy married life!

My Big Fat Greek Wedding

Stelios was the lucky winner of a Free Grooms Cake from The Bridal Extravaganza Show I did a few months ago. He's greek so he thought it would be fun to do the Parthenon. This cake was so much fun to make and it was all worth it when I got to see the bride and grooms faces when they saw it. It's always such a treat when you can see the excitement in their eyes.
I thought they had a great idea that I thought I would share with you all. Since they were having a rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding, they decided to use the grooms cake at the dinner as their dessert. With rehearsal dinners usually a little more casual, the grooms cake is a great cake to use for that event. I hope they had a wonderful wedding and rehearsal dinner.

Lindsay

I had so much fun with Lindsay's cake. She wanted fun and funky and that's what she got! I love it when brides are bold with their color choices. Brown, Orange and Hot Pink were her colors. We incorporated all the colors into her cake with Chocolate lillies as a cake topper. The wedding was held at Noah's in Sandy. It is a beautiful venue with a lot of different options for any type of party.

Lindsay's Groom Cake

Lindsay also wanted a grooms cake for her husband to be. I can honestly say that making these cowboy boots have been one of the coolest cakes I've ever gotten to make. Grooms cakes are a blast to make and can be such a special surprise for your fiance. The wedding can easily become just for the bride.. but grooms cakes can be a way for you to show your groom just how special he is as well.
These cowboy boots are replica's of their own boots which made them even more customized for their event.

Jamie

Here's another cupcake wedding. This is for a bigger party. Jamie wanted to serve cupcakes to all her guests as party favors as well as the dessert for the sit down reception. Each favor was boxed and labeled with the cupcake flavor and displayed on the buffet table. The cupcake tower held nearly 200 cupcakes so guests could just come and take what they pleased.
Jamie had a crazy week with graduating from college, getting married and moving across the country all within days of eachother. I hope all went well and good luck with all your new adventures.

Clarissa

I had such a great time meeting with Clarissa and her mom at our first consultation. They were fun to talk with and I enjoyed getting to know them a little bit. With her colors being black, white and yellow, we sketched out a fun cake that would incorporate all her colors but still have a real springy feel to it. She loved gerb daisies and wanted them incorporated into her cake. I think it turned out great. Clarissa presented her cake in the middle of the room under a gazebo so it was a focal point of the reception. It was a fun way to display the cake so all your guests could enjoy it wherever they were in the room.

Alisha

Cupcakes are a fun, trendy and a great alternative to the traditional wedding cake. Alisha was having just a small wedding, so a three tier cupcake tower worked perfect for her reception. The green and black were a great color combination.
Alisha, you looked beautiful and you are so darling. I was excited to be apart of your wedding day.

Ogden Wedding..... Finally

Maren has been one of my most organized bride's I've ever had the pleasure of working with. She had her wedding thought out to the very last detail and then some. Maren did my job for me by sketching out her final design of her cake. After many idea's and styles, she finally went with a design that only a fashionista would come up with...... her whole cake was designed around the pleats on her shoes!!!
This wedding turned out fabulous. The whole venue was in perfect sinc. The sit down reception at Thanksgiving Point overlooking the gardens had style and class with a bright sunny feel with her colors being white, yellow and green. It was a perfect way to start off spring.
As you can see in the picture, the cake stood 3 feet high and above it was a floral chandelier created by Studio Stems. Maren looked beautiful and after a few unexpected delays and date changes, I'm so happy she was able to have the wedding of her dreams. Congratulations Maren and Nate.

(CLICK HERE TO BE CONNECTED TO THE NEWS SEGMENT)

Hello Utah! I'm a Grooms Cake!

As I've said before.. Grooms cakes are starting to become more and more popular here in Utah. (YEAH!!) As a cake artist, I LOVE to make grooms cakes. This is where a lot of sculpting and creativity really gets to come out in cake.
Here's a picture fit for a baseball lover! Eric is a HUGE Arizona Diamondbacks fan, so a baseball hat was the perfect choice for him! I enjoyed this cake since I have a little soft spot in my heart for the Diamondbacks myself. I happened to live in Phoenix when they won the World Series a few years back... the whole city turned into baseball watching zombies to watch the world series... It was a blast.
Eric.. I hope you enjoyed your baseball hat cake!

Anne H Wedding

I was lucky enough to do Anne's wedding cake. Anne, you were so much fun to work with! The wedding was at Red Butte Gardens. This is a great venue for a wedding. The orangerie is a beautiful room full of light where citrus trees grow right here in Utah:) All the live plants, trees and flowers inside and out in the garden itself creates a beautiful setting for a wedding party.
Anne took the organic nature of her location into her cake with ordering sugar paste peonies as the main focal point of her cake. Adding flowers.. whether fresh or sugar to cakes add so much elegance and style. She went a step further and had chose peonies because she had the same flower in random places on her dress. She looked so beautiful.. and it was great to see how the venue, the cake, her dress, etc. etc all came together perfectly.
Congratulations Anne on your wedding.

Good Things Utah

Thanks to my dear friends at The Bridal Extravaganza, I will be appearing on Good Things Utah on Tuesday March 24th. I'm so excited for this opportunity to show off my cakes and am blown away that I was asked. It's going to be a little nerve racking to watch all the girls from the show eat my cake on live television (ahhhh). I hope they like it! Wouldn't that be awful if you were on a food segment and the hosts actually spit your food out? Man.. worst nightmare right there.
Anyway... tune in to Good Things Utah on Channel 4 at 10:00-11:00am next Tuesday morning. Thank you Bridal Extravaganza!

Ode To Summer

Special Occasion Cakes are a blast to make. A lot like grooms cakes, special occasion cakes can be fun and very customized. This is a cake I did for a wakeboard lover who was turning 30. His wife threw him a surprise party and wanted a cake that represented her hubby's love for his boat. This cake is a replica of his own boat and his cute family cheering him on from inside. Steve is an avid air chair guy so the cake wouldn't have been complete without him behind the boat in action.
If you are ever in need of a special occasion, a cake with personality like this not only will taste good, but will be a conversation piece throughout the whole night.
Steve.. I hope you had a great 30th birthday.. Now if it could only get warmer out in this Utah weather so you could get out on the lake!
Happy Birthday.

Leah & Ben

Leah and Ben.. you guys are a great couple! Your reception was beautiful and I loved seeing you both when I delivered your cake. Leah.... I LOVED your dress. You looked gorgeous!
Making a wedding cakes is always a lot of work, but it is so great when you know you are doing it with the bride and groom in mind. I love being able bring your ideas and thoughts to life in cake. The willow tree statue was the perfect cake topper. What a great idea! I have many brides ask what to do for cake toppers... I might just have to steal your idea and tell them how great yours looked.
I hope you had an awesome wedding day and honeymoon!

Whitney & Tyler

Whitney and her cute mom came and met with me a few months ago and knew exactly what they wanted. The "crooked square" cakes are growing in popularity this season. Whitney loved her cake! It is such a reward to see the smiles on the brides face when she sees her cake come to life.
Whitney... You looked beautiful, your cute little nieces were adorable in their dresses and I hope you and a wonderful wedding day! Thank you for letting me be a small part of it!

Why Not an Engagement Cake??

This cake was done for the cutest girl named Mindy. She and her fiance are getting married out of state, but wanted to celebrate with all their friends and family here in town. An engagement cake is a perfect way to add that special touch to your party. We had so much fun designing this cake. Mindy wanted the topsy turvy look which was the perfect style with the goblets on top.
Mindy.... I wish you the best of luck on your wedding!

A Elegant Cake Fit for a Princess

This is a great cake if you want a classic elegant cake that has a modern twist to it. The draped fondant on the middle tier is a great way to create the look of your wedding dress on your cake. The embossed flowers soften the look as well as adds a touch of femininity.
Welcome to Sugar Kisses Cakes Blog! Where you can see everything I'm working on and doing on a daily basis! Hope you enjoy the site.. and remember....
I LOVE TO HEAR WHAT YOU THINK!!!
So feel free to comment anytime!!
